How's life ppl?
Anyways, now i will be talking about Direct and Inverse Proportion. Does it sound complicated? Yup, I think so too -.- Ok, here goes: Proportion basically means a statement of quality between two ratios. i) Direct proportion. Definition: When a relation between two variables remains constant, they are said to be in direct proportion. Example question: John reads three pages of a book every ten minutes. The ratio " Pages over Time " is constant. Therefore, 3 pages over 10 minutes = 6 pages over 20 minutes = 9 pages over 30 minutes = 12 pages over 40 minutes =................... and it goes on and on and on n on n on........... ZZZZZZZ ii) Indirect (or inverse) proportion. Definition: When one variable is multiplied by a number and the other variable is divided by the same number, they are said to be in indirect proportion. Example question : It takes four hours for one person to mow the lawn. It takes two hours for two people to mow the lawn. So, the result will be something like this: 1 person = 4 hours to mow lawn 2 people = 2 hours to mow lawn. 3 people = 1 1/3 hours to mow lawn 4 people = 1 hour to mow lawn 8 people = 1/2 hour to mow lawn. And that's all! Cyas Signing off, I <3 maths :) Sean See fell apart on 4:51 AM. ####### |
